Golden rod bursts into bloom all across Outer Cape Cod in late summer. I couldn't resist this sprawling stand of it because of the way it helps to anchor a view of so many other iconic Outer Cape images a gnarled old tree most likely blown to its death by a passing nor'easter, the wetlands and shifting waterways of the Nauset Inlet, and the Eastham Coast Garden station, one of several that dot the great Atlantic beach from Chatham to Provincetown.
